On April 11, 2023, Greg Henington, Judge of Brewster County, declared April 15-22, 2023, as INTERNATIONAL DARK SKY WEEK in Brewster County.

The purpose of this declaration is to encourage the residents of Brewster County to

join him in observing this important week, raising awareness and support for protecting the precious dark skies resources and to help Brewster County be a leader in dark-sky awareness for the region.

This declaration was made possible through the collaborative efforts of many including Linda Beranek of Marathon, TX and Stephen Hummel at McDonald Observatory.

Great to see Judge Henington taking this step to protect Brewster County's dark skies. I've been using a light pollution tracker to see how my own backyard compares. https://vo3-ai.net
