On April 11, 2023, Greg Henington, Judge of Brewster County, declared April 15-22, 2023, as INTERNATIONAL DARK SKY WEEK in Brewster County.

The purpose of this declaration is to encourage the residents of Brewster County to

join him in observing this important week, raising awareness and support for protecting the precious dark skies resources and to help Brewster County be a leader in dark-sky awareness for the region.

This declaration was made possible through the collaborative efforts of many including Linda Beranek of Marathon, TX and Stephen Hummel at McDonald Observatory.

That's wonderful to see Brewster County's leadership in dark sky preservation. A formal county declaration is exactly the kind of grassroots action that builds momentum for protecting our night skies. I've been tracking similar efforts and found a great resource at https://zimage-ai.com

Judge Henington's declaration for April 15-22 is a great step for Brewster County's dark skies. I'd love to learn more about local light-pollution resources. https://fruit-love-island.com
